Head of Sales

David Energy is creating a new kind of energy company. Traditional Retail Electricity Providers are outdated, opaque, and painful for customers to engage with. We use software to monitor our customers’ real-time energy usage, and we aggregate and analyze that data to maximize the value they get from their energy assets (such as battery storage, HVAC, and solar) via participation in energy markets. Our mission is to give energy customers greater transparency and control while creating a cheaper, cleaner, more reliable electricity grid.

We are seeking a full-time Head of Sales who will spearhead our go-to-market efforts across our broker and direct sales channels, including overseeing a team of salespeople and establishing best practices across the sales organization. This role is geared towards a leader with 8+ years of experience in technology sales to SMB customers and 2+ years in a leadership role. Experience at high-growth startups and with selling in broker-dominated marketplaces a plus!

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategy to efficiently generate leads in SMB, particularly multi-location chains like quick serve restaurants, gyms, and retail store fronts. Some example are Juicepress, Barry’s Bootcamp, Sweetgreen, Macdonald’s franchises, and Warby Parker
  • Build, manage, and lead a world-class team in both our direct and broker channels
  • Be accountable for meeting revenue goals by setting strategy and growing and managing our sales organization accordingly
  • Collaborate with our leadership team in establishing quarterly and annual sales targets and ensure the sales organization is equipped to meet and exceed those targets
  • Relay customer feedback to and prioritize feature rollouts with product team
  • Manage the sales team’s day-to-day operations and track performance against key sales metrics
  • Establish best practices and internal infrastructure to help the team perform at its best
  • Manage our sales pipeline, including sales forecasting and developing and tracking key performance indicators. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure we are meeting our goals

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of experience in tech sales with 2+ years of experience leading a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience owning the full sales process from lead generation, customer pitches, securing buy-in from customer stakeholders, contract negotiation, and closing
  • Experience driving sales through multiple channels including partnerships, digital, direct and indirect sales
  • Has sold technology solutions extensively to SMB customers
  • Track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Has built and motivated a sales team to meet and exceed sales quotas within budget
  • Has sales leadership experience at an early or growth-stage startup
  • Excitement about bringing the power of software to disrupt old and clunky industries like energy
