Application Engineer

David Energy is creating a new kind of energy company. We use software to monitor our customers’ real-time energy usage, and we aggregate and analyze that data to maximize the value they get from their energy assets (such as battery storage, HVAC, and solar) via participation in energy markets. Our mission is to give energy customers greater transparency and control while creating a cheaper, cleaner, more reliable electricity grid.

We are seeking a full-time Application Engineer who will be responsible for integrating customer devices with David Energy’s platform to drive savings for customers and improve building performance. This role is geared toward a mid-level professional engineer with 2+ years of experience working with EMS, controls, or BMS.


  • Support data integration, onboarding of IoT devices (i.e thermostats), SkySpark programming, and project setup for new and existing clients
  • You will be responsible for 2-3 days of on-site support for clients utilizing systems such as Tridium, SkySpark and other IoT devices
  • You will be a key member of the team providing ongoing support and training to clients
  • Collaborate with the analytics team to identify inefficiencies in client building operations through use of our proprietary analytics system
  • Review building automation system specifications, drawings, and sequence of operations and other IoT devices wiring to perform successful integrations
  • Provide training to building engineers and operators
  • Work with customer and field engineers to troubleshoot and take corrective actions
  • You are able to comfortably work independently and as part of small collaborative teams

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ year of experience with EMS, controls and BMS systems
  • Understanding of mechanical HVAC equipment and database systems
  • Understanding of controls systems and wiring/electrical diagrams
  • Excellent computer skills and strong understanding of MS Office products (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, Visual Basic, Visio
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner
  • Ability to travel to customer sites and be on-site 2-3 days per week
  • Strong understanding of networking, servers, digital communications, remote access and more
